18 March 2004 / 14:00 pm.

I tried to finish my office work before 14.00 pm. because I must take about half an hour for driving to the Bangkok International Airport. Yes...I was assigned from the Fund for Friends (FFF) to give a warmed welcome to our oversea friends who will join us as the For Hopeful Children Project 2004 staffs.

15:00 pm
Finally , although traffic jam so much , I was at the airport. There were other FFF staffs joined me there ; Rita , Aoh and Por. After waiting for no more than 15 minutes at the meeting point...oh...god...she arrived!

For the 4 Japanese staffs , Yurie Watanabe arrived Bangkok first. I had known her for many years from the SSEAYP and many concerned programs. She still be a shiny woman and coming with a sunny smile always. She told me that she just come from Malaysia for her holiday.

No more than half an hour later Atsuko Honda and Fusae Shimotsu had arrived. Atsuko worked for the
CENTERYE in Japan. She was the coordinating staffs when I joined the OBSC 2003 (On Board the Ship Conference 2003) in Japan. And Fusae or Pooh-chan is the SSEAYP'26 member. I met her in Bangkok SIGA in 2001. So this time is the "Old-friend-Reunion" for me,...isn't it?(^^)

The last one is Hironobu Shinozaki which will arrived tomorrow midnight. So FFF will have the other staffs to welcome him.

I took them from airport to the Rama Garden Hotel which will be their resident before going to Rayong in tomorrow morning.

That night the FFF by Visit Dejkumtorn hosted a welcome dinner for the Japanese staffs at the Ratchavipha restaurant. It's open-aired so we can enjoy the night wind and delicious dinner. After finished dinner ,we took them around to enjoy the Bangkok night. Taking them to beautiful places and until midnight. After sent them back to the hotel , I drove back home and go to bed at 2.00 am.

I wonder how can I wake up tomorrow morning and go to office in time!?!?! (^^)

19 March 2004

Thanks god! I woke up and went to work in time(^^).
Today all the FHCP 2004 staffs went to Rayong for preparation. (Japanese staffs too.) BUT...sadly , I must worked at the office all day and can not leave!!! So I must go to join them on Saturday 20 March 2004.

However I called to say "Hi" to my Japanese friends by mobile phone and tell that I will follow them tomorrow. I'm glad to know that they slept well last night.

OK...I must go back to work now...
my boss has coming!!!

20 March 2004

I and my SSEAYP 1991 friend , KV, left Bangkok in the morning driving to Rayong by my car. KV is both my closed friend and my web master staff. He's good in photography. Many beautiful pictures in many website which I'm the web master are his work.

It's not a long trip. Rayong is only 170 Kms. far from Bangkok to the east. There was a little raining in the morning but sky become cleared when we arrive Rayong.

We arrived the Marine base (full Thai name is "Mahasurasinghanart" camp) which is the location for the FHCP 2004. Beach is so beautiful. Participating children from some region of Thailand had arrived already. They enjoyed the performance and play games. I met Visit and all teenage staffs from JTYS (The Junior Thai Youth Ship Club). And also met Yurie , Atsuko ,Pooh-chan and also Hironobu (He's just arrive last night.) there.

In this year there were the group of staffs and participating children from Singapore joined the project , leading by Grace Ng Lai See (SSEAYP 2001 National Leader and the Director of Membership of SSEAYP International Singapore) So I was happy so much that this is the first time we had the official oversea staffs and participants...and the second reason...I had a great chance to meet the SSEAYP family again!

As the location sponsor , the Opening ceremony was preside by the the Navy Supreme Commander's lady. She donated to support this project for 100,000 Baht. After the ceremony finished , it's time for the children (and me too) to jump to the sea!!!! wow...!

SALUTE!!!

Helicoptor show from Marine camp

It's so exciting to see about 500 participating children ran quickly to the beach and play in the sea.

Don't worry...it's safety because there are a hundred of Marine staffs hold their hand and make themselves as a wall in the sea to protect the children from the deep. And far out was the Marine life guard in a diving suit for the second line safety. So after organized this project continually more than 14 years , all children will never feel as safety as in the FHCP before!! (^^)

After finished playing in the sea , children went back there resident in the camp for refreshment. They come back to see the cooled performance from the Marine base in the evening. Then they had dinner (with the meal from many sponsors in Rayong).

After dinner is the the performances from participating children  and staffs. It's so amazing! Children sang beautiful songs , played the music and dance!! Participating children from Singapore performed the beautiful Chinese song. And our Japanese friends performed the famous cooled "Fishermen dance"! (which I ever see for many time but still feel excited every time I see.)

The schedule today finished around 21.30 pm. Children went to bed. But the staffs still had a meeting for an hour.

I and KV went back to the hotel. We checked all pictures and interview recording we made for today before go to bed around 01.00 am in the next day.

I can not remember what I dream of that night! (May be the children's happy smile!...)

21 March 2003

I woke up in the morning by the phone call from Rita and Hlek. They had just arrived Rayong and had breakfast near my hotel. So after breakfast and check-out the hotel , I took them with me to the Marine base (about 5 Kms. from Rayong downtown.)

As ever , after breakfast  FFF invited the Buddhist monk to give a preach for the (Buddhist) children and staffs so that the children can learn more about Buddhism and adapt to use in their lives.

Preach by the Buddhist monk in the morning open "lighter-ship" activity

After a preach , the Marine base had a special activities for all participants and staffs!! They embarked all participants and staffs on board the Navy lighter-ship (ship for transporting the Marine troops between the mother-ship and shore) and cruise them to the sea for an hour. Children (also me too) was so excited to be on board the Navy ship ...like a real battle  operation!!(^^) While all Marine staffs on board gave an description and answer a hundred of happy children's questions!

For the SSEAYP ex-pys ,or we called ourselves as the "ship-people" , to be on board the (any kind of) ship again , is the happiness! Because it gave us a good memory of SSEAYP and to remind us that "We belong to the sea!"

The open-ship activity was over around noon. We enjoyed with the delicious sea food from local people sponsors. (So many sponsor it is!!) I met the staffs from Singapore while he was eating Thai style fried noodle. He smiled and told me happily that "All is delicious! I must try them all!" (...me too!^^)

1-2-3...jump! (who push me?!?!?!)fly over the canal experience

In the afternoon there was the activity called "Adventure stations"! They let the children to join all adventures activities supporting by the Marine base. Participants (and also the brave staffs!) can tried every stations such as "Parachute-simulation" (or...god ...you must jump from the high tower with sling like a parachute jumping!!!..but do not worry ..it's safety!) , climbing over the rope-way , hold the sling across the canal , many funny games etc. All participant and (brave staffs) enjoyed this activity very much.

Club activities : paper wrapingenjoy the game

Me?...ha..ha..for a kind of "weak-heart" staff like me...
not try better! (^^)

It's pity that I , KV , Rita and Hlek must come back to Bangkok that evening because we must go to work in the next day. However I heard that the activities that night is so enjoyable. Nearly a hundred of children joined the Japanese club activity "Fishermen dance"!! and etc. I will try to find beautiful pictures to show you soon.

after the bad traffic situation , we arrived Bangkok around 19.30 pm. I went to KV house to copy and produced the FHCP picture CD for  FFF and our oversea friends.

I went to bed around midnight. (again) and slept until morning.
What I can remember in my dream is...sea...sand...sun...and smile!

Farewell party

22 March 2003

18.00 pm. After arriving Bangkok , FFF hosted the farewell party for the oversea staffs and participants at the Lagoon restaurant , Bangkok.

We enjoyed delicious dinner , talk together in friendship atmosphere and especially enjoy the karaoke! (^^)

I went to join the party with FHCP 2004 picture CD for each country staffs and a picture album for FFF. (..quick job..right?^^)

After the party , we took our oversea friends back to the Asia hotel by sky train and say farewell there. We do hope to see all of them again...any where in the world of friendship!

23 March 2004

It's pity that I must go to work. So I can not go to say good bye to them again. However there were some of our staffs , Rita - Satang and others , went to send and farewell our Japanese friends at the Bangkok International airport.

Although it's only a few days but Rita and Satang told me (with tear) that they felt so sad to see their departure. I told them that it's because of some element in ourselves called "friendship" made us feel like that. And (I do hope) this "friendship" element may lead us to meet each other again .....soon.

If I went to send them at the airport...who know... I may say  farewell with a tear of friendship too.

Till we meet again in FHCP 2005!
