--------------------------------------------

Once again, thank you for giving me an opportunity to work with the two of you and to learn more about Thais.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you all for the success of this project. Being the first timer joining this program, I would say that it was well organised and everything run accordingly as per se. It was a fabulous, fruitful and meaningful project and brings back the memory of Ship for South East Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) that many activities to participate in a day and yet we enjoy every moment of the activities.

I also hope that the children who had participated in this project enjoyed themselves and had brought back fond memories. Not forgetting to thank the local sponsor for delicious Thai foods. However, I felt that the event is too short for the children to learn on the objectives, but I do understand that this is just the beginning of the entire objectives for the children to pick up along the life journey.

Other than personal gains, I have better understanding about the disadvantages children in Thailand as well as better understanding of Thai’s youth. This is so much different if I would have to compare with the children in Brunei and Singapore where I rendered my volunteer works.

These children required more attention from the home or organization as most of them could be homeless and or their families could not provide adequate care especially the physically challenge children.

The entire program not only give them joys, knowing new people and overwhelmed foods that I believe the children will remember for life. I also noticed the strength of these children in some of the activities they are good at. It’s a pity that not being able to communicate with them in Thai so that I could learn better on their background and share a different view with these children.

On the other hand, it was wonderful to see despite the language barrier all of us have fun. It is the care that one has given or showered that made the bond closer which we had achieved one of the objective of this project.

I believe that the children could also learn and bring back some knowledge from this project. One of the volunteer initiated to ‘re-use’ cup which was a good idea that I think we should also taught the children and staff to apply. Being environment friendly should be instilled during younger age irregardless where they are coming from.

I am also glad to see the good teamwork that was contributed among the volunteers. Not to mention the wonderful entertainment that the young and energetic Thais are bringing. That had indeed brightened up the atmosphere and bringing wonderful smiles from the children and staff.

Which I think that if we could gather this group of volunteers again for the next or future project that would indeed bring lots of joy. Their warm and outgoing personalities influenced a lot to the children and teenagers; their positive attitude hopefully will impact the children as well.

Nothing is permanent and all the happy moments had to come to an end. From getting to know them, to play together and to say “good bye” was really hard especially for the children as well as for me. Many times I hold back my tears but when the naïve children waved and say bye, I just lost control.

The project is a reflection of our life, for what we have and for what we could give. A simple task like wearing a shoes is so easy for most of us, but it may be so difficult for the physically challenge child that needs to take almost an hour to wear her shoes. But how many people could really appreciate of what they have, something for everyone to ponder! I am also inspired by the presidents’ life concept, “Less is More”.

Lastly, thank you for the warm hospitality that all the management and staff have provided.
